Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez won't be fit to face Arsenal in the Premier League curtain-raiser at Old Trafford next month.
The Argentine has not played a competitive game since February after suffering a serious knee injury. He has returned to individual training in recent weeks, but won't be fit to start the new Premier League campaign.
It is now reported that the Arsenal game in mid-August will come too soon for the World Cup winner and he may only return to first-team action following the September international break.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Andre Onana has been sidelined with a hamstring injury over the past few weeks, but he is poised to return in time to face the Gunners in the first game of the new season.
Onana has travelled with the team for the pre-season tour of the United States and he could be involved in the final game against Everton in Atlanta next month before the club return to Manchester.
