Versatile AC Milan player Alexis Saelemaekers has ruled out a move to England and intends to stay at AC Milan and fight for his place amidst interest from Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest. The Premier League duo have been in touch with the Belgian's representatives, but the player has insisted that he is happy in Italy and would prefer to stay in Milan for one more season.
Saelemaekers' versatility has caught the eye, capable of playing as a winger, central midfielder, wing-back or full-back, and has international credentials having appeared for Belgium 16 times, scoring one goal. Last season the Belgian had a great spell with Roma, scoring seven Serie A goals in 22 games, and has commanded the interest of several teams.
Villa manager Unai Emery will be disappointed that a deal is likely to be scuppered, as he desperately seeks to add more depth to his squad, whilst Nottingham Forest's manager Nuno is hoping to add a few new faces to this squad ahead of the new season.
Reports suggest that Saelemaekers is valued at around 30 million euros, and AC Milan would be open to selling the Belgium international.
