Heerenveen's Brazilian striker Afonso Alves is being tracked by Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp. Portsmouth's attack looked rather blunt vs. Liverpool at the weekend, despite playing Utaka, Kanu and Benjani.
Afonso Alves had been linked with Middlesbrough several times over the summer, but the Teeside club plucked Mido from Spurs instead.
However, it is believed Portsmouth are searching for a long-term striker to fill in for Kanu.
