Arsenal have entered the race to sign England and Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze after a knee injury to Kai Havertz will likely leave the German forward out of action for a lengthy period of time. In signing Eze, The Gunners will beat Tottenham to Eze's signing and the player returns to his boyhood club.
Eze has long been linked with a move to the Emirates, and reports this summer suggested that Tottenham were in pole position to wrap up a deal for the Crystal Palace man worth around £60 million. However, Arsenal have moved ahead of Spurs and it is understood that talks have progressed rapidly, indicating that Eze's preferred destination is indeed the Emirates.
It is not yet known how long Kai Havertz will be missing, but reports suggest it could be several months. In Eze, Arsenal are signing a proven winner, with the forward winning Crystal Palace the FA Cup and Community Shield. It will also be a major blow for Thomas Frank's Tottenham, who will miss out on one of England's best players to their bitter rivals.
