Arsenal have been linked with a surprise move for Nottingham Forest defender Murillo, who is also on the radar of Barcelona.
The Gunners bolstered their central defensive department this summer with the purchases of Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie (loan with an obligation to buy).
Despite this, they continue to be linked with central defenders and reports claim that Murillo has emerged as a potential target for the future.
Manager Mikel Arteta is a big admirer of the defender's presence of mind and ability to deliver line-breaking passes from the heart of the backline.
Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in the former Corinthians graduate, who is reportedly valued between €70m and €80m.
Arsenal have no plans of pursuing another centre-back at the moment. They have three left-footed options in Gabriel, Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori.
It is unlikely that they will pursue a deal for Murillo next year unless one of those trio heads for a surprise exit. It appears improbable at the moment.
