Manchester United are considering an approach for Sporting CP star Zeno Debast when the transfer window reopens, according to Givemesport.
The Red Devils are keen on adding more quality to the squad. A new defensive midfielder and a centre-back could be signed next year.
Givemesport claim that Debast has now emerged as a top target for the Red Devils and they plan to monitor him over the next few months.
Debast started his career as a central defender, but he has been successful as a defensive midfielder too. He played over 20 games there last season.
Personal terms won't be troublesome due to the 21-year-old's lowly wages of £17,000 per week, but he has a huge release clause worth £70 million.
It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will make a raid for the Belgian, who has been likened to Vincent Kompany for his playing style.
United will need to convince manager Ruben Amorim over a deal. The Portuguese has yet to give the green light for a potential approach.
