Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has broken his silence following the club's 3-0 Premier League defeat against Manchester City on Sunday evening.
The Reds travelled to the Etihad Stadium to face the Cityzens earlier today. They were second-best for most parts of the game and could have lost by a bigger margin.
Liverpool had one goal controversially ruled out with City leading 1-0 in the opening half. When asked for his opinion, Van Dijk said that there is no point discussing on the topic.
The experienced centre-back added that the 3-0 defeat to the Cityzens is a big blow, he said:Â "In football the officials are deciding the key decisions and we have to deal with it on the pitch.
"There is no point discussing this from my point of view. The reality is that we lost 3-0 and that is a big blow."
With the loss, the Reds have dropped to eighth in the league standings and they are most importantly eight points behind leaders Arsenal with a very inferior goal difference.
There are still 27 games left in the campaign, but it would take a humongous task for the Reds to beat Arsenal and Manchester City to the Premier League title.
