Manchester United have been backed to make a fresh approach for Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher during the January transfer window.
The Red Devils were keen on landing the England international on loan last summer, but Atletico disagreed on the proposal before the transfer deadline.
The 25-year-old has since struggled for regular minutes under manager Diego Simeone. He has been a regular substitute under the Argentine tactician.
Speaking to Givemesport, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano said that Gallagher could be an opportunity for the Red Devils in the New Year.
He said: "Conor Gallagher could be an opportunity, but Atletico Madrid didn't want to let him go in August. So let's see what happens in the January window."
Gallagher has rich experience of playing in the Premier League from his time at Chelsea, Crystal Palace as well as West Bromwich Albion.
He would seamlessly fit into the tactical plans of manager Ruben Amorim, and his performances could earn him a World Cup berth with England.
United are more likely to make another loan move for the midfielder.
