Liverpool have their sights on landing Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano as a replacement for Ibrahima Konate next summer.
The Reds have been unable to convince Konate into an extension beyond June 2026 and reports claim that Real Madrid could sign him on a free transfer.
Amidst this, the Merseyside giants are exploring a replacement and Metro claim that Upamecano has been earmarked as a potential target.
Upamecano has been in a contract standoff with Bayern for some time of time and he will enter the final six months of his deal in January.
The Frenchman will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with a foreign club and the Reds could capitalise on the situation to bring him to Anfield.
Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the former RB Leipzig man, but they are only expected to sign one of Konate or Upamecano.
As things stand, Konate seems the preferred choice for the La Liga giants.
