Manchester United are determined to land a new central midfielder before the winter transfer window closes on February 3.
The Red Devils recently parted ways with manager Ruben Amorim, and Michael Carrick has been placed on temporary charge.
Carrick had a fantastic return to the Red Devils with a 2-0 win over Manchester City, which has boosted the club's Champions League pursuit.
Despite this, United could enter the market for a new midfielder and Ben Jacobs claims that talks are ongoing with a secret player.
The reported midfielder has been contacted through representatives and it is claimed that he is currently plying his trade in Europe.
The actual name has not been mentioned by Jacobs and it remains to be seen whether United make a formal approach in the near future.
Kobbie Mainoo was brilliant in his first league start for the club on Saturday. He was previously on the sidelines under Amorim.
A few more similar performances could urge the Red Devils to pause their pursuit of a new midfielder until the end of the campaign.
