Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has said that Levi Colwill has an outside chance of returning from a serious knee injury this season.
The England international suffered an anterior cruciate knee ligament damage last summer, and has been on the sidelines over the last few months.
It was initially predicted that Colwill may not feature for the Blues this term, but Rosenior has said that the possibility has not been ruled out.
He told reporters ahead of the derby versus West Ham United: "Yes, but it's step by step. I don't want to make promises I can't keep."
The Blues have found form under their new manager and recently picked up a stunning 3-2 win over Napoli in the league phase of the Champions League.
They have picked up a consistent run of wins and the onus will be on continuing the streak when the Hammers visit Stamford Bridge this weekend.
The Blues have a fine recent record against their London rivals, and have won their last four matches including a stunning 5-1 result at the London Stadium this term.
