Arsenal have not made contact with Newcastle United regarding midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to reputed journalist David Ornstein.
The Gunners were linked with a shock move for the Italy international earlier on Monday and it was reported that an initial approach was made.
However, this has been quickly dismissed. Ornstein has revealed that Tonali was offered to the north London giants by the player's agents.
The player's representatives were in contact with sporting director Andrea Berta, but Arsenal did not proceed with any kind of move.
Tonali's future remains a topic of discussion and there is a good possibility that he could push for an exit at the end of the campaign.
The midfielder's current contract does not expire until June 2029, but he could push for a fresh challenge if Newcastle don't make the Champions League.
The Magpies have been inconsistent in the Premier League this term and they are currently 10th, eight points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
