02 June 2008 - 22:34

Giovani dos Santos, the 19-year old Barca attacker is set to sign for the Spurs. The Mexican has also been linked with Chelsea and Manchester City is found as a potential replacement for Dimitar Berbatov.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Barcelona and Tottenham Spurs are close to sign a deal which will see highly talented youngster, Giovani dos Santos move to West London.

Reports in Spain suggest that the 19-year old will cost Tottenham a fee not less than £7M.

Although the deal is not official, Giovani's father and agent - former Brazilian footballer, Zizinho - said that it is an honour that a club like Tottenham want to sign his son. He added that Giovani is excited by the prospect of playing in the english premier league.

"Tottenham's ambitious plans have excited Giovani and he just wants to go there and help the team in any way he can. It is obvious that leaving Barcelona is a risky decision, but with his qualities it appears that it could be the best option for him," he said.

Tottenham is targetting many quality players as the team's top striker Berbatov is set to depart looking for a new challenge.

The Spurs have already signed Luka Modric and are on the verge of luring 16-year old Crystal Palace midfielder, John Bostock.

They are also interested in getting the services of Macedonian striker Goran Pandev.
