Manchester United have moved ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City in the pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali this summer, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.
The Red Devils are expected to reinforce their midfield department at the end of the campaign. Casemiro has already been confirmed to leave when his contract expires on June 30.
Manuel Ugarte could likewise be sold amid his lack of playing time. Amidst this, it is claimed that United are weighing up an approach for Tonali and have already contacted his agent.
Tonali is presently respectful to the Magpies and he won't be making a transfer request until the season concludes. Still, United are continuing talks with his representative over personal terms.
Newcastle have not set an asking price for the former AC Milan man, but reports claim that they could hold out for at least £100m for his sale.
Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the Italy international, but the Gunners are not exploring a summer move at the moment.
