Winger set for Arsenal move?

Arsenal chasing 18-year-old winger Alajbegović

Arsenal have been tentatively linked with a summer move for Kerim Alajbegović, as the Gunners continue to explore emerging attacking talent across Europe ahead of the next transfer window. The 18-year-old winger, currently with Red Bull Salzburg, has rapidly risen onto the radar of several top clubs following an impressive breakthrough season in Austria.

  • Reports suggest that Arsenal are monitoring his situation alongside a number of other young wide players, with the club keen to add depth and long-term quality in forward areas.

Alajbegović’s profile fits the current recruitment model being developed under Mikel Arteta. At just 18, he offers high upside, positional versatility, and experience already at senior level, having featured in both domestic and European competitions. The Bosnian international has registered double figures for goal contributions this season, underlining his growing influence in the final third.

However, any move for the winger would be far from straightforward. Bayer Leverkusen have already activated a buy-back clause to bring the player back to Germany this summer, placing them in a strong position regarding his immediate future.

Premier League competition is also expected to be fierce. Both Chelsea FC and Manchester United have been credited with interest, with reports suggesting a potential valuation in excess of €30 million.

That kind of fee reflects not only his current output, but also the widespread belief that Alajbegović could develop into a top-level winger in the coming years.

From Arsenal’s perspective, the attraction is clear. The club are looking to evolve their attacking options, particularly with concerns over squad depth and the heavy reliance on key wide players. Adding a young, dynamic winger capable of operating across both flanks would provide valuable competition and cover, while also aligning with a longer-term development strategy.

At this stage, the links remain speculative rather than advanced, with no indication that formal talks have taken place. Nevertheless, Alajbegović’s name appearing on Arsenal’s radar is consistent with their recent recruitment approach, targeting high-potential players before they reach full market value.

With the summer window approaching, this is a situation that could develop quickly, especially if Bayer Leverkusen decide to capitalise on growing interest. For now, Arsenal’s interest appears to be one to watch rather than one close to completion, but the groundwork may already be in place for a future move.
