  • Blackburn Rovers had reluctantly allowed Mark Hughes to open talks with Manchester City and he was set to leave Ewood Park for the citizens.

He signed a three year deal worth £9M today.

Hughes met City's new executive chairman Gary Cook in London to finalise the contract. Sparky will have a whopping £35M available to buy new players.

Manchester City will have to pay £4.8M in compensation for Hughes, his assistant Mark Bowen and two more members of his Rovers staff.

Mark Hughes had been instrumental in Rovers success in the Premier League, in his four year tenure, making them one of the top ten clubs in England.

The latest reports suggest that Shinawatra wants Hughes to sign top class players including Barcelona's Brazilian super star Ronaldinho.
