Arsenal stance on signing Nico Williams revealed

11 June 2026 - 20:30

Arsenal continue to maintain an interest in signing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

  • Chelsea agree to sell defender permanently
  • Chelsea set fresh asking price for Enzo Fernandez
  • The Gunners have long been linked with a move for the Spaniard, and they were keen on signing him last summer before he penned a long-term deal with Athletic.

Williams had a difficult 2025/26 season, marred by injuries, but he was still selected for the World Cup with Spain. Arsenal are now expected to monitor his performances before lining up a fresh move.

The 23-year-old has stayed committed to his boyhood club throughout his young career, but he could be tempted to move on in the quest to win more silverware.

Barcelona have also been linked with the attacker in the past, but they are unlikely to make a fresh move, having been left disappointed by his stance last summer.

Athletic have inserted a staggering £80m release clause in the Spaniard's deal, but he could be available for around £65m later this summer.
