Manchester United are close to finalising the transfer of midfielder Ederson from Atalanta, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Red Devils are expected to make multiple midfield signings this summer and have already reached a verbal agreement to land Ederson for £35m upfront with a further £4m in add-ons.
Ederson was initially expected to undergo his medical after his holiday next month, but he was surprisingly called up by Brazil for the World Cup recently after an unexpected injury to Wesley.
Hence, United have now scheduled his medical in New York, and he is expected to complete it within the next 24 hours. There is a possibility that his transfer could be formally announced too.
The Red Devils are expected to recruit another midfielder at least to compensate for Casemiro's free transfer exit. They have entered talks with West Ham United to land Mateus Fernandes.
The Hammers reportedly want £80m to part ways with the 21-year-old, who is prepared to hold out for a move to Old Trafford.
