Chelsea are poised to return with a renewed offer to sign midfielder Granit Xhaka from Sunderland this summer, according to The Daily Mail.
Xhaka returned to the Premier League with the Black Cats last summer. He had a phenomenal campaign as they qualified for the Europa League.
The Swiss international is now eager to return to the English capital after his time at Arsenal. He is open to joining their London rivals, Chelsea, to reunite with former Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso.
Chelsea have already failed with an opening bid worth eight million pounds for the 33-year-old, and The Daily Mail claim that they are preparing an improved proposal to persuade the Black Cats.
Sunderland have made it clear that they do not wish to lose their captain after just one season, and look likely to snub the second bid too.
Xhaka looks keen on returning to the English capital, but he is unlikely to force a departure from the Black Cats against the club's wishes.
