Manchester United are expected to focus on signing Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott after missing out on Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni.
The Red Devils have already secured verbal agreements to land Andrey Santos and Ederson, but they are eyeing another marquee addition.
Tchouameni was on their radar recently, but a move is no longer on the cards after the Frenchman agreed a new long-term contract with Los Blancos.
United need to pursue an alternative, and The Daily Mail claim that they have their sights on landing Scott from Bournemouth in the coming days.
Scott was one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League last term and he has recently declined a contract renewal at the Cherries to move on.
United are known to be long-term admirers of the 22-year-old and could be prepared to pay close to the reported £80m asking price for the midfielder.
They are not alone in the pursuit and could face competition from Arsenal.
