Manchester United explored the possibility of signing Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal in a part-exchange deal for Marcus Rashford, according to Mundo Deportivo.

  • Chelsea standing firm on Enzo Fernandez price tag
  • Liverpool want to sign Adam Wharton

  • Rashford spent last season on loan with the Blaugrana where he was exceptional with 14 goals and 14 assists from 49 appearances across all competitions.

Barcelona had the option to purchase him for 26 million pounds but they decided against triggering it and ended up landing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for 70 million pounds.

The Blaugrana were initially hoping to sign Rashford for just 11 million pounds, but United were quite clear that they would not provide such a massive discount.

The Red Devils did propose a part-exchange deal involving Bernal but the Blaugrana made it clear that they would not entertain the departure of their La Masia graduate, as per Mundo Deportivo.

Bernal also shared the same stance regarding his future. He made it clear that he would not pursue a new challenge away from the Spanish champions this summer.
