Jack Grealish is set to leave Manchester City for Everton on loan after being told he is surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium, according to a report from The Athletic dated August 30, 2026.
The proposed move would bring an end, at least temporarily, to Grealish’s time in City’s first-team plans, with the player now expected to continue the campaign on Merseyside. The report states that City have made clear he is no longer required, opening the door for Everton to secure a high-profile addition before the transfer window closes.
For Everton, the deal would represent a significant statement as they look to strengthen their squad with an established name. A loan arrangement also gives the club the chance to add quality without the long-term commitment of a permanent transfer, although no further details have been provided regarding the structure of the agreement.
Grealish’s expected departure underlines how quickly circumstances can change at the top end of the game. Having been informed that he does not feature in City’s plans, the move to Everton could offer him the opportunity for a fresh role and regular involvement away from Manchester.
