Manchester United have made a shock move to sign Manchester City left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri before the transfer deadline, according to talkSPORT.
The Red Devils are desperately seeking a new left-back before the transfer window closes and have now made a surprise enquiry for Ait-Nouri.
The Algerian has fallen out of favour at the Cityzens since he arrived last summer, and he is the third-choice left-back behind Nico O'Reilly and Josko Gvardiol under manager Enzo Maresca.
Hence, United have explored a deadline-day move for the former Wolves man, but talkSPORT feel it is highly unlikely that a deal will go through before the transfer deadline at 11pm tonight.
The Cityzens have not executed a permanent cash transfer for a first-team player with United since 1996, and they may not entertain doing business with their arch-rivals before the window closes.
United have still not given up in their pursuit but may have to look elsewhere for a left-back solution with time running out.
