Valencia may not sell Villa

11 June 2008 - 20:03

Valencia's sporting director Juan Sanchez has revealed that David Villa may not have to be sold this summer. There were reports that Chelssea and Liverpool are both interested in the forward.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • Sanchez has moved to confirm that the player will not necessarily be sold after impressing in his first game in Euro 2008 scoring a hattrick.

"We are reassured regarding Villa - there is no news," he said.

"Hopefully he can keep on scoring goals [for Spain].

"He's a player under an enforced contract and today we aren't asking for anything regarding him. We hope that he has a great Euro 2008.

"The coach took him because he is a very important player and one like him is tough to find.

"Will an offer come in? You never know. We are reassured - he's a great young player and the longer he plays at Valencia, the better."
