Mcleish wants McFadden stay

24 June 2008 - 23:43

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish wants to keep star striker James McFadden at the Blues next year. It is understood that several Premiership sides - including Wigan and Fulham - are monitoring the Scotland international.

  • Chelsea set to sign Crystal Palace star for £47m
  • Man Utd aiming to beat Liverpool to 25yo midfielder
  • "As far as I'm concerned he's committed to the cause and, suffice to say, I am planning for next season with James in my team," McLeish told the Birmingham Mail.

"It would need to be something ridiculous for us to even contemplate it [selling him].

"We want to get back up at the first attempt to the Premier League, we make no secret about that.

"And, absolutely, I want James and Sebastian Larsson here in the team to help us do that.

"The board have made their intentions clear as well, right from the end of this season."
