Villarreal: Senna not for sale

04 July 2008 - 18:59

Villarreal president Fernando Roig has maintained that their star defensive midfielder Marcos Senna is not up for sale this summer.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • Senna was arguably the best player for Spain at the recently concluded Euro 2008 and has been noticed by all the major clubs in Europe.

Manchester United and Juventus both have been reported to be interested in the player but Roig insists that the only way that Senna could be prised away from the Madrigal was by the club buying club paying his buy-out clause that stands a t a staggering 36 million euros.

“We are not frightened of the interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world since we have tied our captain to a €36m cancellation clause," the Daily Star quoted Roig as saying.

“That’s the figure a club would have to pay if they want his services. But the best thing is if he doesn’t go. He is very happy at Villarreal and we are very happy with him.”
