Aimar to Benfica?

06 July 2008 - 18:36

Real Zaragoza midfielder Pablo Aimar is set to join Portuguese giants Pablo Aimar, according to reports emanating from Spain.

  • Liam Rosenior confirms groin injury for Chelsea star
  • Liverpool extend contract of key star ahead of Spurs game
  • Aimar joined Zaragoza from Valencia in the summer of 2005 and featured heavily for the next two seasons. But last season the tricky Argentine international playmaker missed several bits of the season due to successive injuries.

Zaragoza got relegated to the Spanish Segunda Division at the end of last season and are now preparing for a mass exodus of their players.

Aimar has been linked with a number of clubs outside Spain, including Premiership side Newcastle United, but it has been confirmed that he wants to join Benfica where he shall rejoin with his former Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores who was appointed the new coach of Benfica this summer.
