Trezeguet says no to Barca

10 July 2008 - 06:42

Juventus striker David Trezegeut has politely refused to change clubs this season, bring an end to FC Barcelona’s dim hopes of signing the recently retired French international striker.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Trezaguet emerged as the second top scorer in the Italian Serie A with 20 goals last season and there have been rumours floating in the European transfer market that he would be prised away from Juventus to Camp Nou sometime this summer.

So much that there were several reports stating that Barca have already launched a bid to Juve for the veteran striker but Trezeguet, who scored the Golden Goal for France against Italy in the Euro 2000 final, has politely said that he is not interested in moving away from Juve this summer.

David Trezeguet has said that although he is quite impressed and flattered by Juve’s interest in him, he is not quite eager to jump ship. He said:

“It is obvious that it is nice for any player to know he is wanted by a team like Barcelona, with Guardiola as coach, and with players like Messi or Puyol.”

He then went on to add that from now on he shall be focusing solely on his Juvents career.
