Betis sign Turkish midfielder

10 July 2008 - 06:44

Spanish club Real Betis have signed Brazilian born Turkish international midfielder Mehmet Aurelio on a free transfer.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Aurelio ended his five year love affair with Fenerbahçe this summer and was a free agent. The Andalucian club Real Betis was quick in grasping the situation and decided to approach Aurelio.

Aurelio impressed hugely in the UEFA Champions League last season and was also an important player for Turkey in the recently concluded Euro 2008 finals.

Mehmet Aurelio moves to Betis on a three month contact and his agent says that the player is very much eager for a new challenge.

Pedro Pastor said,"We can all rejoice. It's a success - the signing has been hard, but we've managed it.

"Tomorrow at 12:30 he'll come from Brazil via Lisbon to San Pablo airport in Seville, prior to his medical."
