Panathinaikos land Gilberto

Panathinaikos look set to land Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva. The Gunners confirmed that an offer had been lodged for the player by the Greek club - believed to be in the region of £1 million to £2 million - and that a deal would be going through shortly.

  • Man Utd star preparing farewell video ahead of transfer
  • Chelsea winger suffers head injury vs Nottingham Forest
  • It was thought that Arsenal might consider playing Gilberto Silva as a replacement for Mathieu Flamini next year; but the club have decided to let the Brazilian leave too.

Silva is currently in Greece thrashing out personal terms; in a move that will be financially lucrative for him and his family.

The move will end Gilberto's seven year association with Arsenal; and allow him to link up with former Chelsea number 2 Henk Ten Cate.
