Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have make a shock move for the SV Hamburg star Rafael van der Vaart. They have tabled a 10 million pound offer.
Van der Vaart is almost on his way out of the AOL Arena as his German club Hamburg know all too well that the Dutch international creative playmaker shall leave sooner or later.
Hamburg therefore are willing to sell the player but it is reported that he shall be sold only for 18 million pounds and above.
Atletico Madrid though are expected to pay not more than 10 million pounds. AS reports that Atleti have already made the bid and that Hamburg are yet to deliver their verdict on the matter.
Atletico shall feature in the UEFA Champions League next season and are therefore looking to strengthen their squad to compete both in La Liga and in the UEFA Champions League in 2008-2009 season.
