6 Goal Thriller At The Cottage

22 September 2007 - 18:50

Fulham 3-3 Manchester City. In arguably the game of the day, Fulham and Manchester City shared six goals and a point each at Craven Cottage.

  • It was Fulham who struck first through Simon Davies on 13 minutes before Martin Petrov bagged his first City goal to level the score moments after the half hour, and it stayed that way until the interval. After the break, there were four more goals and there could have been more.

Hameur Bouazza restored the home side’s advantage just three minutes into the second half with a free kick for his first Fulham goal. The lead barely lasted two minutes as Emile Mpenza struck to level for City. With City now in the ascendancy, it was no surprise when Petrov hit his second of the game to put them 3-2 ahead on the hour. It was typical of the grit and determination we have seen since Sven Goran Eriksson took charge of the Eastlands’ club.

Another trademark from City we have learnt to accept this season is their ability to defend, but that was not evident today as former Tottenham midfielder Danny Murphy managed to grab an equaliser for his new side to give Fulham hope of a victory 15 minutes before time. However, it wasn’t meant to be as both sides ended up with a point in the second consecutive 3-3 score line at the Cottage.
