USA international teenager Freddy Adu has joined AS Monaco on loan for the rest of the season. The French club have reportedly agreed a deal with Benfica to see the move become permanent.
It is understood that if Monaco are impressed with the American, they have the option to make the move permanent next year and the player could be allowed to join the French side for a fee believed to be in the region of £3 million.
Adu has never really impressed at Benfica; and has now been told he can leave the club permanently and begin a new career elsewhere.
