Sunderland want Ferdinand

Sunderland want Ferdinand

29 July 2008 - 17:37

Sunderland boss Roy Keane is reportedly interested in Anton Ferdinand. The West Ham United defender has been linked with a move away from the club for over two months; the Black Cats are set to make a last ditch effort to bring the England Under-21 defender to Wearside.

  • Chelsea open to selling midfielder for £100m amid Real Madrid interest
  • Xabi Alonso to replace Arne Slot at Liverpool?
  • Sunderland will be expected to pay in the region of around £7 million for Ferdinand, who had been hotly tipped to join Tottenham earlier in the summer.

It does now appear that Sunderland have jumped to the head of the queue, after Spurs apparently opted to sign midfielders as opposed to defensive signings.

Newcastle will also be monitoring Ferdinand's position very closely, and are expected to make an offer for the player.
