Everton still in for Moutinho

29 July 2008 - 17:38

Everton boss David Moyes is still desperate to bring Portuguese youngster Joao Moutinho to the club from Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese international - who starred at Euro 2008 - is valued by his club at around £19 million (his minimum fee release clause). The Portuguese giants are reluctant to allow the player to leave the club.

  • However, Everton have already taken steps to bankroll a move for the player, after Andy Johnson left to join Fulham in a £11 million deal. Moutinho is now expected to be given a second opportunity to join Everton, after admitting recently he was keen on a move elsewhere.

Everton are now set to lodge a £15 million offer for the Portuguese midfielder, who is capable of playing up front too.

Moutinho has already hinted that the only club he would consider joining at this stage would be a Premiership one, and that he was keen to join the Toffees.
