Wigan want to keep Heskey

Wigan want to keep Heskey

08 September 2008 - 10:25

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has admitted that he would love to see Emile Heskey stay at the club, but is realistic about the club's chances after Tottenham reportedly tabled a late offer for the player on transfer deadline day.

  • Chelsea set £35m price to sell 20-goal striker
  • Arsenal considered favourites to sign Leipzig striker

  • Whelan told The People: "We don't want Emile to go, but football is football.

"If somebody pays enough money and Emile wants to go we would never try to keep a player.

"We don't want him to leave and he's happy here, but if anything develops Emile will have the final say."
