Calderon slams Ferguson

Calderon slams Ferguson

30 October 2008 - 16:35

Real Madrid chairman Roman Calderon has laughed off claims from Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson that Madrid's transfer policy was intentionally unsettling players.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • "I don't believe they were interested in Heinze - good player though he is. The end game was to get Ronaldo,'' Ferguson said in an interview with GQ Magazine:

"What made it really obscene was that Madrid, as General Franco's club, had a history of being able to get whoever and whatever they wanted, before democracy came to Spain.

''Madrid is not doing anything to disturb a 'friend club' like Manchester. We are two very big clubs. We want to be good friends forever.

Then Calderon slammed Ferguson by calling him 'an old man': "I'm not going to waste any time answering him, I admire his record, but he is getting old."
