Scolari thinks about Jan transfers

01 November 2008 - 11:11

Luiz Felipe Scolari feels that his Chelsea side could do with landing at least one player in the January transfer window, and is looking forward to bartering for the right man.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • “When I started at Chelsea, I said I wanted one player who is different – someone who’ll try something different when we play against teams who close us down,” said Scolari, who had lined up Robinho before his fellow countryman signed for Premier League rivals Manchester City.

“The clubs we play against make it difficult for us, with maybe 20 players in a space of just 40 metres, so when you dribble past one opponent there are still two in front of you.

“We have one style of playing but we need to be able to change the style sometimes.

“I want what I said when I arrived here. I need two or three systems to play, not only one.

“For this, I need different players because some play to attack all the time. Sometimes it’s impossible.”
