Ashley Young finally put an end to all of the speculation and put pen to paper on a new Aston Villa contract this afternoon, to the delight of Martin O'Neill and Aston Villa fans.

Ashley Young had been in stunning form in recent months and the back end of last season, and inspired the Villa Park side to offer the player a new contract.



Boss Martin O'Neill added: "Ashley has three years left to run on his contract and while we paid Watford an awful lot of money for him, we didn't pay a lot to him.



"After what he has done over the past 18 months, I felt we should change that. He has earned it."
