Tottenham Hotspur are still leading the way to sign England international goalkeeper David James from Portmsouth this January.

  • Chelsea set £35m price to sell 20-goal striker
  • Arsenal considered favourites to sign Leipzig striker

  • Spurs' current goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes continues to make mistakes most weeks in the Premiership, and Redknapp is keen to find a replacement for the Brazilian misfit.

It is understood that Redknapp will raid his former club to bring in a new goalkeeper, and James fits the bill.

Portsmouth could let the player leave for a fee believe dto be in the region of £2.5 million.
