Fryatt sends Villa out

Fryatt sends Villa out

26 September 2007 - 22:22

Leicester City's Matty Fryatt produced another shock in the Carling Cup as Aston Villa were dumped out of the tournament in a 1-0 defeat. Worrying for Villa, Martin O'Neill played a strong team.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Aston Villa were poor throughout, and Sean Maloney had one of the few chances in this game. However, Fryatt broke the deadlock with 16 minutes left, running clear and firing past Stuart Taylor from a tight angle.

Leicester boss Gary Megson said after the game, Everybody put their bodies on the line and worked their socks off and deserved a result that probably no-one expected.

"We could have done with more quality and patience in the last third but this club has been in a relegation battle for three years.

"We have the basis of a fantastic football club. We have the support, a great ground and we just need to get things right on the pitch."
