Nugent happy with new chance

Portsmouth striker David Nugent is thankful that Tony Adams has given him another chance to prove himself in the Premiership. Nugent has slotted into the Pompey first team as a replacement for Jermain Defoe who left for Tottenham.

  • Nugent scored against Tottenham in the Premiership at the weekend, and has admitted he is delighted to be back in Portsmouth's first team plans: "Tony has changed things and wants to do things his way now the job is his. I've been put out on the wing to do a job and I'm doing it. I'm just happy to be playing.

"I may not be in my best position but I've scored and I want to score a few more. Because I haven't been playing there are a few clubs I've been linked with.

"They are in the Championship, though, and I don't want to drop down. I want to prove I can do it at this level. Hopefully people will see what I can do."
