  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Theofanis Gekas, the Greek striker, has joined Porstmouth from Bayer Leverkusen on a loan deal. He will add quailty to the Pompey striking department.

Portsmouth had recently sold Jermain Defoe to Tottenham and were searching for a quality striker. The goal scoring record of Gekas is impressive and he could well do another "Roque Santacruz" in the Premier League.

Blackburn Rovers had benefited from signing Roque Santacruz from Bayer Leverkusen and he had proved to be a goal getter. Gekas comes from the same club, and has proven goal scoring ability.

He has scored 12 goals for Greece is just 35 matches and has been the top scorer in Bundesliga a couple of seasons ago.

Pompey manager Tony Adams has high hopes for the player. He said ,"His goalscoring record is fantastic and he's always looking to score goals. "

Tony Adams have David Nugent, Kanu and the tall Crouch as the striking force. Gekas could add some depth and more fire power to the team.
