An impressive Atletico Madrid kept champions league hopes alive after beating Real Betis 2-0 in the Vicente Calderon, thanks to a brace from Diego Forlan.
The Uruguay international, Forlan, netted two goals to help Atletico win the battle against Betis. He has scored 25 goals this season and is set to challenge Barcelona's Eto'o for the Pichichi trophy.
Samuel Eto'o has 27 goals in his name, Messi has 23.
Atletico Madrid have moved upto fifth by the last win, and they are level on points with a sixth place Villareal.
