Newcastle chase Scharner

Newcastle United are believed to be ready to make a move for Wigan defender Paul Scharner. It is understood that Alan Shearer will pay up to £5 million to land the Austrian international.

Scharner has been one of Wigan's most consistent performers over the last four years, and Steve Bruce's side have been moving up the table thanks to some stunning form from the defender.



It is believed that now, Scharner could well be moving to Newcastle as part of a £5 million deal in the summer.
