Saviola signs for Benfica

Javier Saviola is on the verge of completing a move from Real Madrid to Benfica, after a wholly unsuccessful period at the Santiago Bernebeu. Saviola had been linked with a move to Porto and Juventus.

A statement on Madrid's website informed: "The club want to thank the player and wish him the best of success in this new stage of his career."



Real Madrid are believed to have agreed terms with Benfica for the transfer in the region of £5.5 million.



Saviola will link up with his new team mates on July 9th.
