Sporting to sign Matias Fernandez

Sporting Lisbon look set to sign Chilean international midfielder Matias Fernandez from Spanish side Villarreal this summer after a fee was agreed between the two clubs - believed to be in the region of £6.5 million.

Fernandez has had a mixed spell at Villarreal, and is keen to try his luck elsewhere.



Juventus and Genoa are also monitoring the Chile frontman.



However, Sporting moved a step closer to completing the signing after agreeing a fee for a player who is well known for his stunning ability to score goals from outside the area and from free-kicks.
