Sunderland not in for Kirkland

Sunderland not in for Kirkland

11 January 2010 - 13:45

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has revealed he is not interested in signing Wigan goalkeeper Chris Kirkland, a player Bruce knows well from his time managing Wigan.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Bruce had been apparently ready to bid £5 million for the England keeper.

Bruce said: "Talk of me bidding £5m for Chris Kirkland is garbage but he is a very good goalkeeper and I'm a big, big admirer of him.

"Some of the players I've been linked with have been ridiculous but you come to expect that in January and there's nothing we can do about that.

"What I will say is that we're working on one or two things and hopefully we can see them progress."
