Stoke City could make a shock move for Ruud van Nistelrooy. It is believed that the Potters have offered the Dutchman a six month loan to help him regain his form and fitness.
van Nistelrooy has fallen out of favour at the Bernebeu, and is now ready to quit and head back to the Premiership.
'It may be a long shot but we've made enquiries and we'll see what comes from them,' Stoke chairman Coates told BBC Radio

'It depends on him wanting games to make sure he goes to the World Cup.'
