Sunderland are close to sealing a move for Belgium under-21 international goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, according to reports. The player currently has a contract with St Truiden, who are ready to let the player leave. PSV Eindhoven had also been linked with the shot stopper.
âThe deal is not yet finished but we are nearly there and if it happens it will be a dream come true for Simon,â his agent Guy Vandersmissen explained.
âHe saw the facilities at the weekend, and met with Nigel Spink and Steve Bruce, and he just had a good feeling about Sunderland.
âThere will be more discussions next week, but the two clubs are not far away from agreeing a transfer fee, they are more or less there now.
âIt is not yet complete, but I expect that everything will be okay.â
